Justice Brent E. Dickson
(One hundredth Justice)
Brent E. Dickson was appointed as the 100th Justice of the Indiana Supreme Court on January 4, 1986, after seventeen years as a general practice and trial lawyer in Lafayette, Indiana. As a lawyer, he was certified as a Civil Trial Advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy.
Born in Gary, Indiana, in 1941, he was educated at public schools in Hobart, Indiana; Purdue University (B.S. 1964); and Indiana University School of Law at Indianapolis (J.D. 1968).
He is co-founder of the Sagamore Chapter of the American Inns of Court in Indianapolis, a member of the American Law Institute, a registered mediator, and active in various national, state, and local judicial and bar organizations.
Justice Dickson also served as an adjunct professor at Indiana University's Schools of Law, teaching an evening course in Indiana Constitutional Law for several years.
Justice Dickson and his wife have three adult sons and seven grandchildren.
