Justice Boehm

Justice Theodore R. Boehm
(One hundred fourth Justice)

Theodore R. Boehm was appointed to the Supreme Court by Governor Evan Bayh in 1996.

He grew up in Indianapolis, received his A.B. from Brown University in 1960, summa cum laude, and graduated magna cum laude in 1963 from Harvard Law School, where he was an editor of the Harvard Law Review.

After serving as a law clerk to Chief Justice Earl Warren of the United States Supreme Court, he joined the Indianapolis law firm of Baker & Daniels where he became a partner in 1970 and managing partner in 1980. In 1988, Justice Boehm joined General Electric as General Counsel of GE Appliances and in 1989 became Vice President and General Counsel of GE Aircraft Engines. In 1991 he joined Eli Lilly Company and then returned to Baker & Daniels in 1995.

Justice Boehm was Chairman and CEO of the organizing committee for the 1987 Pan American Games in Indianapolis, and was the first President and CEO of Indiana Sports Corporation. He is currently chair of the Indianapolis Cultural Development Commission, a Trustee emeritus of Brown University, and a member of the American Law Institute. 

He is married and has four grown daughters and five grandchildren.
