DECEMBER 2001 SITTING
OF THE INDIANA SUPREME COURT
Thursday, December 6
9:30 a.m. Michael Dean Overstreet v. State of Indiana
Overstreet was convicted of the rape and murder of an eighteen-year-old college student,
and was sentenced to death by the Johnson Superior Court following a jury
trial. In this mandatory direct appeal, Overstreet argues, among other issues, that
the trial court erred in admitting certain DNA evidence, that the evidence is
insufficient to support the convictions, and that the death sentence is inappropriate.
