According to the Indiana Constitution and state statute, the seven-member Judicial Nominating Commission works to fill appellate court vacancies.  On February 23, 2015, Court of Appeals Judge Ezra H. Friedlander announced he is stepping down from the bench, effective August 31, 2015.  The Commission will consider applicants and select the three most qualified candidates as finalists.  Gov. Mike Pence will select Indiana's next Court of Appeals judge from among the three finalists.
