Browser Recommendations. The Indiana Judiciary website is best viewed using Microsoft Internet Explorer version 5 or newer, though Netscape Navigator version 6 or newer is also compatible with most of the website.

The Judiciary uses Microsoft Windows —and therefore Internet Explorer (IE)—for all internal users, which is one reason why we have chosen to develop this site primarily for IE. The primary reason we develop our site for IE, however, is that the majority of people who visit this site use IE to do so.

From April 2002 through March 2003, 70 to 76% of visitors used Internet Explorer to view the Judiciary site, while only 3 to 14% of visitors used another browswer. Together, IE is used, on average, by 80% of our visitors each month. The other 20% of visitors use various other browsers.

Following are a few questions and answers regarding browser types and versions and why they are important.

A: In order to properly display a given webpage, a browser must support the technologies used by the web developers to create the site. If the browser you use is not compatible with the technology used on a website, then it will not always properly display what the developer intended.

A: Because Internet technology is constantly evolving, our website must evolve with it. As a result, the browser you use to view the website must evolve as well. Microsoft and Mozilla Firefox all usually release several new versions of their browsers each year, and they are both available for FREE download online.

Unfortunately, we cannot support older browsers, so if you are using a version of Internet Explorer that is older than Version 5.0, you might consider updating your browser. In general, it is always a good idea to continually update your browser as new releases are available, but only if your computer meets the proper system requirements for the updated version. This website is always best viewed with the newest version of Internet Explorer.
