Purpose
The Court Interpreter Certification Advisory Board
was created by the Commission on Race and Gender Fairness in June
2003. This Board is charged with creating standards that relate
to all aspects of court interpreting that the Commission will recommend
the Supreme Court adopt. The Board will work on a Code of Ethics
for court interpreters, Disciplinary rules, the most practical format
for certification (orientation, written exam, skills building, oral
exam), the fees that should be charged, the location of the certification
processes, the dates of certification, and many other administrative
and policy issues.
