A drama that re-enacts, using members of the audience, aspects of a case challenging the prohibition of slavery in Indiana 's 1816 Constitution. The case was brought on behalf of a young black woman, Polly Strong.

Statehood Day

Held annually on December 11; sponsored and organized by the State House Tour Office. On December 11, 1816, Indiana became the 19 th state to join the Union. Please join us for “Indiana Statehood Day” to celebrate Indiana's 190th birthday. The special program will be held on Monday, December 11, 2006, from 12:00 to 1:00 P.M. in the Indiana Statehouse.

Benjamin Harrison Day
Held annually in March (grades 4-12).
Hoosier Lambdin Milligan opposed the Civil War and urged people to resist the draft. Audience members help to recreate the military tribunal that convicted him of treason, his appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court, and his civil suit in Indianapolis .

Law Day
Held annually in May (grades 8-12 preferred)
Brown v. Board of Education was the name given to 4 separate cases that the U.S. Supreme Court heard regarding the issue of segregation in public schools. Students will recreate elements from the cases and the historic Supreme Court decision.
