About Project Citizen
Project Citizen is a middle school civic education program designed to develop interest in public policymaking as well as the ability to participate competently and responsibly in state and local government. The project is administered by the Center for Civic Education in cooperation with the National Conference of State Legislatures. In an assessment by Professor Kenneth Tolo, Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs, University of Texas at Austin, one conclusion reached was that "students using Project Citizen do make a difference in their communities."

Students Taking Things at School That Do Not Belong to Them
Description: Our class project is titled "Students who take things at school that do not belong to them." Glenwood Middle School is considered inner-city and low-income. Teachers and students have seen an increase of things being stolen—from diamond rings to money to pencils. The people having this done to them are getting tired of it and feel things are not being handled properly.

The Hunchback of Zionsville Middle School
Description: Students at Zionsville Middle School decided to look into the problem of heavy backpacks. They felt that students were carrying too much weight and in some students it was causing health problems especially on back, shoulders, neck, and legs areas. They decided to call themselves the Hunchbacks of ZMS because they look like they are hunched over when they have their backpacks filled with homework.
