Founded in 1842, the Indiana University School of Law – Bloomington is the ninth oldest law school in the country, and the oldest state supported law school west of the Allegheny Mountains . The School of Law graduated its first female student, Tamer Althouse Scholz, in 1892. Other famous alumni include Sherman Minton, former Associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court, and Shirley Abrahamson, the first woman to be named Chief Justice of the Wisconsin Supreme Court. With its highly respected faculty and award winning law library, the Indiana University School of Law – Bloomington meets the needs of approximately 630 J.D. candidates.

One of two law schools in the Indiana University system, the School of Law 's first female graduates, Helen G Perry and Caroline B. Hendricks, were awarded their degrees in 1896. Distinguished female graduates include numerous judges, U.S. Attorneys, corporate officers and leaders in pro bono service. Indiana University School of Law – Indianapolis continues its educational mission by serving as the home to approximately 850 law students.

Founded in 1869, Notre Dame Law School is among the oldest law schools in the United States , and is the nation's oldest Catholic law school. Steeped in a rich heritage and history, Notre Dame Law School 's reputation is known around the world. Although the University of Notre Dame did not begin admitting women until 1972, the Law School graduated its first female student, Graciela Olivarez, in 1970. The Notre Dame Law School 's list of alumni now includes many prominent female leaders in both the public and private sectors. Today the Law School continues its proud tradition of developing a “different kind of lawyer” by providing legal education to approximately 525 J.D. candidates each academic year.
For the Notre Dame Law School class of 2007, total enrollment is 178 students, 73 of which, or 41%, are women.
Valparaiso University School of Law
http://www.valpo.edu/law/ Founded in 1879 as part of the Northern Indiana Normal School , Valparaiso University School of Law celebrated its 125 th Anniversary in 2004. Among the accomplishments of its alumni are those of Florence Higgins, who was not only the first woman to graduate from the School of Law, but who also became one of the first full-time female law faculty members in the country when she joined the faculty of the school in 1898. Today, Valparaiso University School of Law continues its proud traditions and history by providing legal education to approximately 560 law students.
