Oral Arguments Online Most appeals cases are completed in written form through briefs that each party in a particular case submits to the appellate court. However, in some cases, a court may choose to set an oral argument, which provides an opportunity for appellate judges to question attorneys in person about the material they have included in the written briefs they filed earlier with the court. The Indiana Supreme Court began webcasting all oral arguments heard in their court in September 2001. Live and archived videos are available. State of the Judiciary Every year the Chief Justice of the Indiana Supreme Court addresses the Indiana General Assembly to deliver a speech on the state of the Indiana Judiciary. This address is similar to the governor's State of the State or the president's State of the Union. Video: "The Faces of Justice” "Faces of Justice" is an informational video that provides a basic introduction to Indiana government, and specifically, its Judicial Branch. Jury Orientation Video: "Indiana Jury Service: Duty, Privilege, Honor” This video was produced in accordance with Jury Rule 11 to provide prospective jurors with an orientation prior to the selection process to aid in understanding their role in the legal system. This video gives an overview of the jury system in Indiana, including the importance of jury service, the jury selection process, the key people involved in a trial, what to expect during the trial, and a discussion of jury deliberations.
