Justice Osborn was born May 27, 1815, in Waterbury, Connecticut, and died April 13, 1891, in La Porte, Indiana.
He served as an Indiana State Representative from 1844 to 1846, and as an Indiana State Senator from 1846 to 1849. He was a judge in the 9th Circuit from 1857 to 1870. In December 1872, he was appointed to the Indiana Supreme Court, becoming the first to serve in the newly created Fifth Judicial District. He served until 1875, when he was defeated in his re-election bid. He then practiced law in Chicago.433
