The presence of family violence and high-conflict in parenting disputes pose special challenges for judges. This workshop focused on the impact on parents and children of various forms of family violence and protracted conflict. Topics included: a framework for assessing parents' reports, the short and long-term effects on psychological adjustment, why children resist and refuse contact with a parent, and options for intervening in these cases to foster positive outcomes for children.
