Court Alcohol & Drug Program
Substance Abuse Education Curriculum Submission and Evaluation Procedure

After the Substance Abuse Education Rules (Section 31) were modified in September 2003, the CADPAC Education Subcommittee and IJC took on the difficult project of establishing what the criteria curricula must contain to satisfy the requirements of our Rules. With the help of some dedicated directors and staff, a workgroup was formed and a contractor hired to develop such criteria. The result of this significant effort is this document. It has been organized to provide you with four key sections.

The first section consists of reference materials that generally apply to all three substance abuse education courses and includes general instructions to IJC reviewers.

The remaining three sections correspond to each of the three substance abuse education courses authorized by Section 31(f) of our Rules. They contain the specific criteria to be used by the IJC reviewer(s) in evaluating each curriculum.

The following sections have three parts. The first part consists of a one-page Curriculum Submission Form that must be submitted by the program. The second part is an optional reference page that may be used by the submitting program. The third part lists the specific curriculum criteria to be used by the IJC reviewer(s).
