Summary
Trial Rule 77, “Court Records,” is the basic framework for court/clerk record creation and management. This rule was promulgated by the Supreme Court of Indiana and made effective January 1, 1991. It replaced an earlier version of a rule that set standards for docket sheets and order books. This Quick Guide is intended to provide guidance to clerks and courts in handling some particular situations encountered with court records and also to assist with some frequently asked questions Trial Rule 77. The Indiana Constitution divides state government into three branches: the Legislative, the Executive and the Judicial.
