The Indiana Supreme Court has approved changes to the Child Support Guidelines effective January 1, 2010. New child support calculators based on the amended guidelines are available below. The calculators previously published to this site are no longer available because they will not calculate support under the new guidelines.
Known Bug: There is a known bug in the downloadable calculator that causes the software to crash. The crash occurs if you have not assigned a case number prefix in the options panel and you tab or click to type a case number on Step 2. We are working to fix the problem and will release a critical update as soon as possible.
There are two known workarounds: (1) Do not tab or click into the case number field and instead hand write the case number on the forms; or (2) add a case number prefix to the Options panel before starting a new calculation. When you reach the case number field, you can edit the prefix if necessary. This has eliminated the error with repeated testing.
In order to run and use this calculator, your computer must:
1. Run the Windows operating system in any of the following versions:
2. Have at least 11 megabytes of free disk space for the calculator software.
Your computer will also need additional disk space for the forms the calculator generates (roughly 200 kilobytes per calculation/case).
3. Have software installed for viewing PDF documents.
The forms have been tested and work properly in the free Adobe Acrobat Reader available for download at Adobe.com. The forms have not been tested in any other PDF readers.
Downloading and installing the calculator is a simple process requiring only a few clicks to complete.
|STARTING THE INSTALLER:||First, click the Download Calculator button above. Depending on which web browser you use and how you've set it up to handle download files, you may be prompted to 'Save', 'Run', or choose between saving and running the calculator. Either option will work. Choosing 'Save' will place a copy of the installation file on your computer, while 'Run' will not. If you choose 'Save', you may have to locate the installation file on your computer and double click it to begin the installation process.|
|SECURITY WARNINGS:||At two points during the installation process, you will be presented with a Security Warning that says the publisher cannot be verified. The reason this security warning exists is because the calculator does not currently have a third party security certificate included. Though we are in the process of obtaining a certificate, the certificate itself does not alter the software; it merely tells your Windows PC that we, the publisher, have purchased a security certificate and registered with the third party. There is no malicious content included with the software, so you may choose to run/install the software without risk.|
|WHAT IS BEING INSTALLED:||The calculator requires that Microsoft SQL Server (a database) is installed on your computer. The calculator installer will automatically handle this; all you have to do is accept the terms of the license agreement to download and install this component.|
The calculator will be available via a desktop icon or the programs list in your Start Menu. However, once installation is complete, the calculator will open automatically for the first time and present you with an options screen. It may take a minute or so for the calculator to run the first time. To learn more about setting options in the calculator, view the Getting Started Guide.
