SERVICE AREA EXTENDED FOR GREENFIELD’S CITY OWNED ELECTRIC UTILITY

The Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission has given permission for the boundaries of Greenfield’s municipally owned electric utility to expand.

Under the provisions of Cause. No. 41755, the annexation involves 239-acres of land.  The city submitted letters from customers in the effected area that expressed preference to have service from the city.

The city of Greenfield and Hancock County Rural Electric Membership Corporation believe the changes in the assigned area boundaries are in the public interest and the commissioners agree.

The city of Greenfield provides electric utility service to approximately 7,248 customers in and around Greenfield.

As part of the transaction, the city of Greenfield will Hancock County REMC d/b/a Central Indiana Power, the $4,663.05.

The order is effective immediately.
