Beat Tobacco is Bloomington Hospital's tobacco cessation series designed to educate and support you in your decision to be free of tobacco. The classes are taught by respiratory therapists who are qualified tobacco educators, which means that they have received training on how to help people quit using tobacco. They understand the struggles and side effects of tobacco cessation, and they have an extended knowledge base to give you options on how to successfully quit using tobacco. No registration is required and the class is free. The class meets every Tuesday at 6:00 pm. For more information call 812-353-5811.

This counseling is provided to individuals who are unable to participate in a group class due to schedule conflicts or personal need. TAP-Tobacco Awareness Program is a comprehensive tobacco cessation cirriculum adddressing smoking and spit tobacco. TAP is an eight-week program that provides information,opportunities for self-assessment, and challenging weekly asignments. The TAP cirriculam guides users to their quit date and helps them remain tobacco-free. It takes into account the fact that participants begin,continue,and decide to quit for a variety of reasons. The TAP curriculum encourages each person to choose the methods of cessation that they beleive will work best for them. This course is offered to youth 14-18 years old.

TEG -Tobacco Education Group is an alternitive to suspension for those caught using tobacco products on school property. It also serves as a Court-Diversion program for youth who violate state and local laws on the purchase and use of tobacco by minors. The program consists of eight 45-50 minute sessions involving lectures, videos, demonstrations, discussions, problem-solving, and cooperative learning strategies. TEG motivates adolescents to move to the preparation and action stages of quitting tobacco. The program addresses both smoking and spit tobacco use. This course is offered to youth 14-18 years old.
