Vision, Priorities, & Goals

Vision

The ISP will be the premier law enforcement agency in the country. We will be guided by three immutable values: Integrity, Service, and Professionalism. In order to foster respect, creativity, teamwork and diversity, individual employees will be given the authority, latitude and responsibility associated with an empowered work force. Problem solving, crime reduction, traffic safety, and police service will be approached with unwavering consistency--100% effort, 100% of the time. The best available technology will be utilized in accomplishing our mission. State and federal laws will be enforced fairly, honestly, and impartially. We will communicate with the public, other governmental agencies, and among ourselves in an open, candid, respectful and professional manner.

Priorities

  • Career development for all department employees provides the opportunity for professional growth and improved services.
  • Focusing on Outcome vs. Output allows the Indiana State Police to target its efforts on results to improve service to the public and eliminate activities that do not.
  • Quality Communication, both interpersonal and electronic, enables safety of Indiana State Police personnel and delivery of quality services to the public.
  • Sound Fiscal Management ensures accountability to the public and focuses resources for efficiently achieving the goals of the Indiana State Police.
  • Quality Training develops leadership and secures the future of the Indiana State Police.
  • The Public Image of the Indiana State Police reflects integrity, quality service, and professionalism.
  • Quality Laboratory Services of the Indiana State Police provides forensic crime fighting tools of the Twenty-First Century for all law enforcement agencies.

Goals

The Indiana State Police will provide the best in quality service to earn the highest respect and confidence of our customers.

Each district of the Indiana State Police will identify and target for each district the most significant criminal activities and work diligently towards addressing them.
