Criminal Field Operation


Detectives searching for evidence
Detectives are assigned to each of the eighteen districts around the state. The North Criminal Operations consist of two regional offices, one in Lowell and the other in Fort Wayne. The South Criminal Operations consist of three regional offices, located in Indianapolis, Evansville and Sellersburg.

Detectives throughout the state have a well-earned reputation for applying the highest standards of investigative techniques to all criminal complaints received by the department. The detectives are responsible for investigating major crimes and providing specialized assistance to local agencies. Some of the major areas of investigation include:

  • Homicide
  • Robbery
  • Burglary
  • Sex Crimes
  • Political Corruption
