Directions: The Grissom Air Museum is located on U.S. Highway 31, 60 miles north of Indianapolis, next to Grissom Air Reserve Base.

Description: Stroll through aviation history from World War II through the Gulf War at the Grissom Air Museum State Historic Site.

The term “sideburns,” describing hair growing down in front of the ears, was named after Gen. Ambrose Burnside of Liberty, Ind., who favored the hairstyle.
