Q:Can I take photos/video inside the museum?

A: All visitors can take photos and video for their private, personal use only, unless signage indicates otherwise. Media should contact the Communications staff in advance to arrange to shoot photos and videos that will be used with articles and video programs that include the Indiana State Museum. Taking photos or video, including for stock images and other commercial purposes, is prohibited unless authorized in advance by the Communications department. There are also some restrictions on use of tripods and supplemental lighting.

Indianapolis’ first major art exhibition was held in 1852 at the Indiana State Fair.
