Bronze Mastodonts

bmast_inplace.jpgTwo bronze mastodonts now call the Indiana State Museum home.  In the fall of 2004, the mastodonts became reality when they moved to their permanent location between the museum and the Canal.

The mastodonts sit just outside of the window that looks in onto a mastodont skeleton in the Age of Ice Gallery.

It took a lot to get these giant beasts from concept to reality. The photos below show the progress from molding to casting and finally transportation.

They now proudly welcome Canal walkers and visitors to the Indiana State Museum.

The mastodonts proudly support Race for the Cure with their pink bows.
