By the Civil War, Cass County had become a significant Midwestern railroad center with several major lines, including the Cincinnati, Logansport and Chicago, running through it. Travelers to Cass County were welcomed in Logansport with the Riverside Park carousel, carved by Gustav A. Dentzel.
