The Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP)

The DPP designed by the Indiana University School of Medicine, to aid in the prevention of diabetes to pre-screened individuals who are considered pre-diabetic. The program is lead by certified DPP instructors and meets for 16-weeks in a group setting where personal lifestyle goals are set for each individual.

State & National Research

  • The Ashville Project - This article details the how pharmaceutical care produced successful outcomes in one North Carolina City's diabetes patients.
  • Diabetes Complications Control Train (DCCT) - This clinical study conducted from 1983 to 1993 by the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) revealed keeping blood glucose levels controlled slows the onset and progression of eye, kidney, and nerve diseases caused by diabetes.
  • International Diabetes Center - Provides world-class diabetes care, education, publications, and research programs that meet the needs of people with diabetes and their families.
  • Riley Hospital for Children - Faculty and staff are actively involved in research projects to improve the health and quality of life of children with diabetes and their families.
