Good Practice Model

Frontier Elementary School

Successful model:
Superintendent: Bernard Graser
Principle: Don Timmons
Approximate School Size: 500
School: Frontier Elementary School
Name: Judy Pope, RN

General Information
Judy measures the students in the classroom while the teacher is teaching. She notifies the teachers she will be measuring the students and confirms the time is convenient. She has the students remove their shoes while seating at their desk. Last year she measured grades K-4 which was approximately 400 students. She only measured students in the morning and it took her 2-3 days and 15 minutes per classroom. She does not use a volunteer.

Good Practice Tips

  1. Have students line up in alphabetical order.
  2. Doesn’t recommend going into classroom to do measurements for junior and high school students.
