Injury Prevention Program Home > Indiana Injury & Violence Prevention Resource Directory Indiana Injury & Violence Prevention Resource Directory

Dear Prevention Professional:

Injuries are no longer considered accidents, but have recently been recognized as preventable by taking a public health approach to prevention. In 2001, there were 3,454 (56.38 per 100,000 population) injury-related deaths among Hoosiers. Unintentional injury is the 5th leading cause of death for Indiana residents and the leading cause of death among Hoosiers 1 to 34.

The Indiana Violence and Injury Prevention Resource Directory lists over 150 Organizations / Agencies dedicated to the injury and violence prevention. Each Organization / Agency listing provides relevant information including mailing addresses, contact numbers, email addresses, URL addresses, and mission statements.

The Indiana Violence and Injury Prevention Resource Directory lists agencies that facilitate programs related to Violence Prevention & Firearm Safety (V); Motor Vehicle Crash Prevention (M); Fall Prevention (F); Poisoning Prevention (P); Residential Fire Prevention & Burn Prevention (R); Drowning Prevention (D); and Occupational Safety (O). Many Organizations / Agencies listed within this directory have missions that encompass multiple injury types provided above, thus such Organizations / Agencies’ information may be found in more than one section.

The Indiana Violence and Injury Prevention Resource Directory has been designed with the user in mind. The first section of the directory is an alphabetical listing of all Injury and Violence Prevention Organizations / Agencies (please notice the user key provided at the bottom center of each page within this section), and the sections that follow are segmented by injury type.

Information within the Indiana Violence and Injury Prevention Resource Directory is deemed accurate as of January 1, 2005. Organization / Agency information is subject to change and may become dated.

We hope that you utilize this Resource Directory as a useful tool for your programmatic and collaborative needs

Sincerely,

Dr. Charlene Graves
