Loren L. Robertson, M.S., R.E.H.S. was appointed as Deputy State Health Commissioner effective June 8, 2009.
Prior to his appointment, Loren served as the Assistant Commissioner for Public Health and Preparedness at the Indiana State Department of Health, where he directed and oversaw the following divisions: Emergency Preparedness and Response, Epidemiology Resource Center, Environmental Public Health, Office of Primary Care, Immunizations, HIV and STD, TB and Refugee Health, Lead and Healthy Homes, and Legislative Affairs.
Prior to joining ISDH in May 2005, Loren was associated with the Ft. Wayne - Allen County Department of Health for more than 30 years. During his local health department tenure, Loren worked in the areas of environmental health/inspections, vector control, health education, and food protection. Loren was the Director of the Food Protection Division for eight years. From 1995 until 1998, Loren was the Legislative Liaison to the Indiana General Assembly for the Allen County Commissioners. In 1998, Loren returned to the Ft. Wayne - Allen County Health Department as Department Administrator, a position he held until joining ISDH. As administrator, he oversaw day-to-day operations of all divisions, managed budgets and staff, and closely worked with the Allen County Health Commissioner to ensure the effective delivery of all public health and preparedness services to the residents of Allen County.
Loren holds a B.S. degree in Community Health Education and a Masters Degree in Health and Safety from Indiana State University. In addition, Loren is a Registered Environmental Health Specialist with the State of Indiana.
Loren has been married to Beckie Robertson since 1973. They have two daughters Keely and Jessica. Loren enjoys baseball (his favorite team is Tampa Bay Rays) and playing golf.
