Under the leadership of Governor Mitch
Daniels and Lt. Governor Becky Skillman, Indiana’s biofuels
industry has grown to national prominence in just one year.
Indiana has gone from one ethanol plant to 12 new ethanol plants
and four new biodiesel plants that will create 620 new jobs
for Hoosier workers. In total, these new facilities will put
at least $29.5 million into local farmer pockets and invest
more than $1.47 billion in capital expenses.
Governor Daniels and Lt. Governor Skillman also use biofuels
in the vehicles that transport them around the state. The Governor’s
RV1 uses biodiesel. Lt. Governor Skillman rides in a flex-fuel
Tahoe on loan to the state from General Motors. They encourage
all Hoosiers to use biofuels because they are a renewable source
of energy, reduce our dependence on foreign oil, provide cleaner
air and create jobs for Indiana workers and new markets for
Indiana farmers.
