Welcome to the internet home for Indiana’s National Public Safety Broadband Network (FirstNet) initiative!
Today’s first responder depends upon data, video and other technology to protect and serve the public. During emergencies and times of crisis, however – when first responders most need access to reliable communication services – they must compete with everyone else for access to commercial bandwidth. In rural areas, there’s often no service at all.
The mission of FirstNet is to develop, build and operate a nationwide broadband network dedicated to public safety. The mission of the Indiana FirstNet initiative is to provide outreach and education about the NPSBN to Hoosier first responders and to represent the best interests of Indiana public safety agencies during the development of the nationwide network. The Integrated Public Safety Commission (IPSC) is the designated coordinating agency for the project.
