Important Notice to Central Zone Users of the Statewide 800 MHz Communications System
The State of Indiana Department of Administration has scheduled work at the Indiana Government Center in Indianapolis that will result in a power outage from 0800 on Saturday, November 10 to 0800 on Sunday, November 11, 2012. The Integrated Public Safety Commission has been working with IDOA and system vendors to ensure the least amount of disruption as possible. This notice contains details about the outage, who will be affected, and steps to take prior to and during the outage.
Users of statewide communication systems (including the SAFE-T 800 MHz voice system, mobile data systems and CAD/RMS systems) in the central zone and all surrounding counties (see map) will experience reduced or interrupted capacity.
WHAT THIS MEANS
800 MHz "SAFE-T" Voice System - IPSC will transfer crucial components of the voice system to a backup power source, which will require about an hour to two hour outage on the front and back ends of the scheduled 24-hour outage. The front end time is 11/10/12 at 0500. During this one to two hour period, all Zone 1 sites (see map below) will go into site trunking . This means Zone 1 users can still communicate with other users affiliated with their individual site, but not with other sites or zones. The switch back to normal power system will occur at 11/11/12 at 1000.
Other than these two brief periods at the front and end of the scheduled outage, the 800 MHz radio system will work at a reduced capacity:
- All wire line dispatch consoles will be disabled.
- Analog Talk group (mostly state agencies) traffic will be limited
- Inter-zone traffic will be reduced
- ISP will activate NPSPAC repeaters.
- Email will be unavailable

WHAT YOU SHOULD DO
- Review your site trunking plan. If you do not have a site trunking plan, contact Vivian Nowaczewski, vinowaczewski@ipsc.in.gov, for help and guidance. To learn more about Site Trunking, visit www.in.gov/ipsc/2725.htm.
- Wireline console users will need to use "subscribers" as back ups.
- During the maintenance period, refrain from all unnecessary radio traffic
- MONITOR STATEWIDE CALL FOR UPDATES. Although work is scheduled for 24 hours, the contractor has financial incentives for completing the work quicker. It will be important for users to monitor the Statewide Call Channel (SW-CALL) for important information and benchmark announcements.

Note: Site 50 is affiliated with Zone 4 and will not go into site trunking during the power outage period
