IOT Joins Multi-Agency Flood Relief Efforts
IOT is now doing its part to help those affected by the floods that hit southern and central Indiana two weeks ago. After Governor Mitch Daniels announced the opening of multiple FEMA/relief locations, IOT was tasked with providing IT equipment and support to each of the eight sites as well as technically supporting each of the agencies involved in the relief effort.
Since Wednesday, June 11, 2008, IOT has deployed 90 laptops with more than 120 air cards, allowing those affected to file for assistance online at one of the one-stop disaster assistance centers. While Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) assistance applications are available online, many of those affected do not have access to a computer with Internet access, so Daniels asked for access to be provided at the one-stop centers. IOT also deployed 80 cellular phones that are being used by state employees engaged in disaster assistance as well as flood victims who may need to gather additional information in order to apply for FEMA assistance.
"It's incredible to watch all these agencies work together as a cohesive team under the direction of Governor Daniels," said Gerry Weaver, Indiana's chief information officer. "Indiana state agencies and Hoosiers should be proud of what has been accomplished to date."

Indiana Extranet Moving to MyShare
In an effort to increase functionality and stability, IOT is relocating the state of Indiana Extranet to an Indiana SharePoint site. The move will take place on Saturday, June 28, 2008, but all http://extranet.in.gov URLs will redirect to http://myshare.IN.gov URLs so bookmarks will continue to be valid.
In addition to a more user-friendly interface, users accessing Citrix applications via the Extranet will now be required to enter their passwords only once. When accessing Citrix applications while on the state network, users will automatically authenticate after their first login.
For questions about the new site, please contact IOT Customer Service via the Helpdesk Assistant on your desktop. Please note that a user manual for accessing auto-authentication of Citrix applications via MyShare will be posted on the MyShare homepage.
