IOT Streamlines Customer-To-Support Contact
In order to increase its customer support and lower resolution times, IOT Customer Service (ICS) recently eliminated its e-mail box and will provide all IT support over the phone or using the Helpdesk Assistant located on your computer desktop. Because the Helpdesk Assistant provides all relevant IT information, including computer model and serial number, customer contact information and PeopleSoft ID, ICS staff will spend less time e-mailing its customers for needed information and more time troubleshooting IT issues.
ICS also eliminated the use of the Contact form on the IOT Web site. Submissions to the IOT Contact form should be for general inquiries and will not be seen by ICS. Please call IOT Customer Service at (317) 234-HELP (4357) or (800) 382-1095 or submit a ticket using the Helpdesk Assistant on your desktop.
Forgotten passwords can still be reset using the automated Self-Service Password Reset (SSPR) system. If you have not already signed up for SSPR, please do so by visiting http://passwordreset.iot.in.gov/ to get started. Existing members should select Option 1 when calling IOT Customer Service - (317) 234-HELP (4357) or (800) 382-1095 - and follow the menu instructions.
IN.gov Turns One Year Old
On April 17, IN.gov staff held a Communicators Advisory Council meeting to celebrate the one year anniversary of the redesigned IN.gov. Robert Paglia, IN.gov's Program Manager, detailed the year-long efforts of agencies and IN.gov staff to make Indiana the first state with a truly consistent look-and-feel across all executive branch agency Web sites. Currently, IN.gov is more than 70 percent complete with the redesign and will have 75 agencies and their sub-sites migrated by June 30, 2008. To view the up-to-the-minute status of the redesign, please visit the IN.gov Redesign Schedule& Status page
Hey, I Never Sent A Message To This Address!
IOT has received numerous reports from individuals concerned about “undeliverable” message notifications from addresses to which they did not send a message. The cause is most likely a SPAMMER. Here is a common scenario:
- SPAM sender gets your email address from a Web page listing you as an Indiana contact.
- SPAM sender prepares message to send to thousands of addresses and plugs your address into the "From:" field (called "spoofing”).
- The message, appearing to be from you, goes to thousands of addresses.
- Some of the addresses are incorrect. The receiving mail system sends back a reply to the address it mistakenly believes sent the message (yours).
- You call IOT Customer Service or IOT Security to report the e-mail.
Please note that IOT does all it can to filter these messages, but not every single message is caught, so be sure to bring messages such as this to our attention. To view an example of an "undeliverable" message, please visit IOT's security site.
