In June 2009, Indiana State Police and some County Sheriff Departments were trained in Photogrammetry. Since then, Photogrammetry has proven to be an effective way to minimize the time spent investigating crash scenes. This new technology is saving an average of 1 hour and 34 minutes per incident scene during 80 incidents over the use of current Total Station technology. Through 140 documented incidents, Photogrammetry saved 1 hour and 47 minutes per incident scene.
Members of the IN-TIME initiative believe that Photogrammetry will continue to reduce queue time at traffic incidents, therefore reducing the percentage chance of secondary incidents.
