Pre-Retirement Workshops Scheduled Statewide for PERF Members
Workshops to provide information about retirement and PERF benefits
INDIANAPOLIS (Jan. 15, 2010) - The Indiana Public Employees' Retirement Fund (PERF) has announced a new round of free pre-retirement workshops offered at locations throughout the state. The workshops, offered from February through April, are available to members of the PERF fund who are within 18 months of retirement.
In addition to general information about preparing for retirement, the workshops will offer practical information including:

Budget information for retirement

Explanation of retirement options

Step-by-step instructions for completing a retirement application

Information about working after retirement

Answers to retirement questions
While the workshops are offered without charge, seating is limited and members wishing to attend are asked to register online or by calling PERF toll-free at (888) 526-1687. Members may register for either a 9:30 a.m. or 2 p.m. session.
In addition to pre-retirement workshops, PERF offers one-on-one counseling appointments to assist any member wishing to complete a retirement application. These appointments are available at convenient locations throughout the state near where members live and work.
The announced pre-retirement workshops are for members of the main PERF fund. Members of other plans - such as police, firefighters and conservation officers - may contact PERF to schedule an individual counseling session, or they may discuss plan specifics with their employer.
