- Remove & replace
existing 79th St. bridge over I-465 with widned and lengthened
structure that includes future bike lanes.
- Constructed permanent widening on I-465 between
71st St. and I-65 to include an auxiliary lane each direction
that directly connects ramps at I-65 to ramps at 71st. Resurfaced
existing lanes between I-65 and 71st.
- Constructed temporary widening and median cross-over
on I-465 between 71st and 86th St. for traffic maintenance
during the I-465 replacement in 2005.
- Replace & widen I-465 between 71st
& 86th.
- Traffic will be maintained thru cross-overs
during construction.
- Replace & widen bridges on I-465 over 71st
& 86th.
- Install new signs & lighting through out.
- After construction, I-465 will have 4 thru
lanes each direction with 2 auxiliary lanes each direction between
71st & 86th.
- Minimal disruption on traffic on 71st
& 86th.
- Reconstruct interchanges at I-465 &
71st and I-465 & 86th. New ramp configuration to allow free
flow traffic in several directions and provide improved
levels of service during peak usage.
- Reconstruct 71st & 86th from west of I-465
to east of I-465 including pavement replacement & new sign
and signals.
- Install aesthetic enhancements through the
interchanges.
- Minimal disruption of traffic on I-465

- Complete new ramp from I-465 northbound to
73rd Street.
