Roadway Standards Team

The Roadway Standards Team is responsible for the standardization of design items. Our goal is to ensure economical and cost effective designs.

Services:

Roadway Standards (Development and Revisions)
Indiana Design Manual, parts I, II, V and IX (Development and Revisions)
Technical design support to all designers (Inquiry responses, generating design policy and technical advisory memorandums)

In-House Design Teams

The Roadway in-House Design Team is responsible for delivering quality road contract documents according to state and federal policies and guidelines in a cost effective and efficient manner.

Services:

Develop quality construction plans for the INDOT Districts, including right-of-way plans for land acquisition, hearing presentation plans, accurate quantity calculations and accurate cost estimate and special provisions.
Coordinate with internal agencies within INDOT (Central Office and Districts)
Coordinate with external agencies such as IDEM, IDNR, FHWA as required
Identify potential ways to reduce project construction and right-of-way costs
Provide training to new engineers and technicians

The Roadway Consultant Review Team is responsible for monitoring the quality of all contract documents according to State and Federal policies and guidelines in a cost effective and efficient manner. Our goal is to produce the best set of plans possible for construction.

The Roadway Traffic Design and Review Team is responsible for delivering quality traffic contract documents according to state and federal policies and guidelines in a cost effective and efficient manner. Our goal is to produce the best set of plans possible for construction.

Signal, signing and lighting design projects
Review of all traffic projects
Design Manual part VII chapter 77
Sign truss and cantilever structures
Specification changes for sign trusses
Light tower maintenance
Technical design support to all designers (Inquiry responses, generating design policy and technical advisory memorandums)
Traffic item shop drawings for sign trusses and signals
