Safe Routes To School Program SRTS provides funds to encourage safe walking or bicycling to school for kindergarten through 8th grade.

  • The purpose of the Safe Routes to School Program is to make walking and bicycling to school a safe and routine activity. The Program makes funding available for a wide variety of programs and projects, from building safer street crossings to establishing programs that encourage children and their parents to walk and bicycle safely to school.

Green Moves Program

  • The Green Moves program seeks to develop a statewide trail, greenway, and bikeway system.

    The Indiana Department of Natural Resources in cooperation with the Indiana Department of Transportation and other state agencies has produced a master trails plan to guide the development and expansion of a statewide system of trails to be used for recreation and transportation throughout the state. Indiana has set a goal of providing an easily accessible trail opportunity within 15 minutes or 7.5 miles of all Indiana residents.
