US 231

County: Tippecanoe

Construction start: 2007

Construction end: 2009

Estimated construction cost: $35.6 million

This project will realign the road around the southwest side of Purdue University from South River Road up to S.R. 26. The new road will have two lanes in each direction, separated by a median, and a new or improved intersection at Intramural Drive and Newman Road. West Lafayette is a growing college community and improved access in and out of town is important for both students and residents.

This Major Moves project will alleviate congestion on two principal Wabash River bridges and improve access to West Lafayette and the Purdue University campus.

This project is anticipated to begin in the spring of 2007 with an estimated construction cost of $35.6 million.
