County: Tippecanoe
Construction start: 2006
Construction end: 2007
Estimated construction cost: $14.6 million
This two-phase Major Moves project widens SR 43 to two lanes in each direction north of the I-65 interchange for approximately one mile. Turn lanes will also be added during construction. This project stretches from just north of I-65 to nearly two miles north of I-65.
The added travel lanes will alleviate congestion for motorists in that area, and benefit local businesses by allowing the traveling public easier access to their establishments. This will make traveling through this growing area safer for motorists.
Work on utility relocation began in the summer of 2006. Construction on the additional lanes will begin spring of 2007. The entire interchange and travel lane project will be completed in late 2007 with a total investment of $14.6 million.
