Accounting

Division Focus

The Accounting Division is responsible for maintaining the financial records for INDOT and providing for budgetary control for certain financial activities of divisions, as well as providing financial services to INDOT employees, customers and vendors alike. Some of the activities undertaken by the division include reimbursement of employees' travel expenses and paying INDOT vendors. The division is comprised of two sections: Accounts Payable and Fiscal Analysis and Reporting.

Accounts Payable coordinates the following activities:

  • Provides guidance and assistance to the administrative staff throughout the Department for all aspects of paying vendors for product and services, and reimbursing employees for travel and other non-payroll items.
  • Coordinates with the Auditor of State and vendors to facilitate timely payment of amounts due to vendors and employees.
  • Responds to and assists Vendors regarding payment procedures and related questions and inquiries.

Fiscal Analysis and Reporting serves its customers in various ways:

  • Maintains and operates the Department's accounting system which records all financial activity, controls the district/divisions' spending, and addresses the reporting needs of both management operational staff.
  • Receives and records all revenue due the department which includes billing and collection for services or product provided by various INDOT locations.
  • Performs various financial management activities related to financial statements, overhead rates, financial analysis and special reports to meet the needs of INDOT, including its divisions and districts as well as various other entities with financial interest.
  • Coordinates with the Auditor of State and the State Treasurer for all aspects of financial recordkeeping and reporting.
