Materials and Tests
Division Focus
The Materials and Tests Division works to develop, inspect and test materials used to construct and maintains highways. It seeks to ensure that INDOT utilizes the most efficient and effective products to make the wisest use of Hoosier tax dollars. Specifically, the Materials and Tests Division provides the direction of engineering, design, inspection, and testing of construction and maintenance materials.
The division also ensures statewide uniformity and quality of materials , provides direction to district materials and tests engineers, provides staff engineering advice and service to INDOT on inspection testing, and materials design matters, and provides engineering advice to INDOT on matters relating to suitability, quality and strength of materials for transportation purposes. The division includes the following sections:
