It's been nearly two years since the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) adopted its 25 Year Long Range Transportation Plan. The plan provides INDOT and our planning partners, including the state's Metropolitan Planning Organizations and other key transportation stakeholders, a long range vision of how the state jurisdictional highway system will develop in the future.
In a continuing effort to keep the plan current, the Planning Section is initiating a 2004 plan update that will extend the planning horizon outward from 2025 to 2030. We will be looking at added capacity "expansion type" projects for added travel lanes, new road construction and new or improved major interchange development.
