Highway worker suffers hip injury when car hits him

A state highway worker was seriously injured Thursday, July 13th while mowing grass along U.S. 41 in Parke County. Mr. Shull was thrown about 70 feet after being struck by a car, according to the Indiana Department of Transportation. He was taken to Vermillion County Hospital and then to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was listed in stable condition with a fractured pelvis. He died at 2:30 a.m. on August 8th in Methodist Hospital at Indianapolis.

Mr. Shull was performing traffic control for a sidemount-mowing tractor that was mowing on a curve. Two vehicles were stopped when another car that could not stop, went off the road to avoid the stopped cars. Gaylord tried to get away from the vehicle and was struck in the ditch.
