Fort Wayne man killed in truck-rig collision on 930
A 54-year-old man was killed Thursday when his pickup truck struck a tractor-trailer rig at Indiana 930 and Adams Center Road, police said.
David E. Higgins, of Fort Wayne, died at the scene. He had been driving a state-owned vehicle for the Indiana Department of Transportation in the 10:30 a.m. crash.
Higgins had been eastbound on Indiana 930 when he struck a tractor-trailer rig traveling north on Adams Center Road, New Haven police said. The tractor-trailer was preparing to turn onto Indiana 930, police said. Witnesses told police that Higgins disregarded the automatic signal at the intersection. Higgins was not wearing a seat belt, police said. The tractor-trailer driver was treated for minor head injuries and released from Parkview Memorial Hospital.
The Indiana State Police assisted in the investigation.
