Vet Owned Businesses

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Has special authority for Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business/Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB/VOSB) Set-aside and Sole Source Contracts. There are a number of resources available for veteran owned businesses. All of Indiana PTAC’s counselors are certified by the VA as verification counselors, able to assist you with the certification process.

This site provides information about the Center for Verification and Evaluation (CVE) efforts to verify Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses (SDVOSBs) and Veteran-Owned Small Businesses (VOSBs).  SDVOSBs and VOSBs who want to participate in the VA’s Veterans First Contracting Program must be verified by CVE in order to be eligible for VA contract set-asides.

This Guide is intended to assist Applicants to comply with the regulatory requirements in 38 CFR Part 74 in order to apply for Verification. Use this guide as a first step to decide if you are ready to apply, understand the steps for application, and understand common issues that cause applicants to be denied.

Remember: You can still self-certify as a veteran owned business within SAM as an alternative to completing the certification process for federal contracts. Be sure to ask one of our counselors about the differences between self-certifying and completing the VA’s certification process.

The State of Indiana has a Vet-Owned Business program! Be sure to check this out if you are interested in contracting with the state of Indiana as a vet owned business. Note that the state of Indiana requires the VA’s VOSB/SDVOSB certification as part of its registration process.
