Hello and Happy New Year. We hope all of you have a great and safe 2013.
As most of you probably know we have a new Superintendant of State Police and therefore a new Chairman for the Law Enforcement Training Board in Douglas Carter. Please welcome the Superintendant to the LETB when you see him.
Here at ILEA I will start with some personnel news. First, Mary Jane White retired after spending over 15 years with the ILEA in the Housekeeping section. We wish her all the best and she will be missed.
Next I am very excited to announce we have hired Dr. Paul Whitesell in the position of Clinical Services Director. We believe Paul’s addition to the staff will benefit all of law enforcement. Paul will teach in various courses here at ILEA and will be available to officers for counseling sessions. Please welcome Paul back to our staff. His email address is PaWhitesell@ilea.in.gov.
I want to take this opportunity to express my appreciation to the staff of ILEA for a very successful first annual Training Coordinator’s Conference. I also want to thank our sponsors and vendors who added to the success of the conference. We received many positive comments by attendees. Our next conference dates are set for November 6th and 7th. Watch the website for more details.
The Indiana Law Enforcement Academy Associates is now officially established. Thanks in large part to Deputy Director Mike Lindsay and Janice Hardwick of the ILEA and the effort of the committee members the alumni association became official at the signing ceremony on November 1, 2012. If you would like more information and want to become a member please go to: http://cfmconline.org/Funds/IndianaLawEnforcementAcademyAssociatesFund.aspx
We are now developing 15 minute training segments for posting on our website. This will be another way for officers to receive valuable training they can utilize towards their 24 hour mandate without a major time commitment. We are offering these training segments free of charge and more are on the way.
For agencies that are willing to sponsor tuition students to the ILEA we want to let you know that the fee has been increased to $7,500. Please inform anyone who approaches you about sponsorship of this increase.
Well that is it for now. As always if you have questions and /or concerns do not hesitate to contact us.
Pitchers and catchers have reported to camp so Spring is on the way!!!!!
