GRASS: Geographic Resources Analysis Support System -
public domain Unix package with a large established user base which actually contributes to the
code that is incorporated into the new versions. There are several image processing tools and good support
for spatial statistics analysis. Strong support of raster/vector integration. GRASS is a widely used GIS package
for hydrologic/watershed modeling applications and directly supports two widely used models: AGNPS
and ANSWERS.
MapInfo - demos and evaluation copies of MapInfo products, including MapInfo Professional
MapObjects 2.3 - 90-day evaluation version
GEO-EAS - Ground Water and Ecosystems Restoration Research.
Spatial data analysis package developed by the EPA although no longer distributed by them. Geo-EAS data format is now common in the geostatistics world.
Diagnostics and statistics make this a good advanced package for small data sets.
