IndianaMap Poster Competition


College and University Students


The annual GIS Poster Contest provides an excellent forum for geography students to present their work to the entire Indiana GIS community.

Posters will be displayed during the Indiana GIS Conference, and pictures of the winning posters will appear prominently in the IGIC Newsletter. It could open the door to future job opportunities or even cash rewards!

PRIZES!!!
First Place: $250
Second Place: $150  
Third Place: $100

All current undergraduate and graduate students from Indiana universities are eligible to enter the poster competition. Students are invited to submit illustrations of how GIS is used.


The dimensions of the poster should be no larger than 4 x 5 feet. It should contain a title, your name and affiliation, an introduction, methods, results and conclusion.



Submitting an Entry


Posters must be delivered to the registration desk at the annual conference between 8:00 and 10:00 am on the first day of the conference (date varies from year to year).

Send an email to Paul Irwin irwinp@indiana.edu if you would like to register your poster for competition at the conference. Provide the following in your email: 1.) Poster Title, 2.) University and department, and 3.) Contact Information (Name, address, city, state, zip, phone and email)

Judging Criteria


Submissions will be judged by a panel according to the following criteria:
  • Introduction and Methodology (30% of score)
    • Statement of Objectives
    • Relation to Previous Research
    • Research Design
  • Results (30% of score)
    • Substance of Findings
    • Relation of Findings to Objectives
    • Conclusions
  • Design (40% of score)
    • Organization
    • Visuals
