IDOA > Indiana Government Center > Government Parking > Government Parking Technology Updates Government Parking Technology Updates

IDOA is pleased to share with you that state-of-the-art updates will soon be provided to all the state employee parking facilities in Indianapolis.

IDOA will begin installing new technology that will improve the efficiency of entering and exiting parking facilities, provide real-time updates for available parking, and increase security. The process of upgrading the parking facilities will require the removal and installation of new lane equipment, resulting in temporary closures. The first closure will take place at the Washington Street Garage #1 on Monday, June 20. IDOA will post signs to the garages indicating the new traffic patterns at the time of the closure. Following its completion, construction will then begin on Garage #3.

This website will provide the latest up-to-day information regarding updates and closures to the parking garages.

If you have any questions please contact Parking Services at IDOAParkingServices@idoa.in.gov.

Thank you for your patience during the parking equipment upgrade.

Beginning Monday, August 1, the entry/exit lanes of Garage #1 in the Washington Street Garage will reopen for vehicle traffic and the lanes of Garage #3 will be closed.  All vehicle traffic for parking on levels 1-6 will be required to use Garage #1 for entry.  The temporarily closure of Garage #3 will allow for the continued removal and installation of lane equipment.  The following lane configurations and traffic patterns will be implemented during the closure to facilitate the efficient entry and exit of the high volume of traffic in Garage #1.  It is anticipated that Garage #3 will reopen on August 15th.

MORNING ENTRY:
From 7:30AM-9:30AM all four (4) lanes of Garage #1 will be ENTRY ONLY (please see entry diagram attached). Exiting will be prohibited during this time.  Individuals that anticipate leaving the garage between 7:30 – 9:30AM must park in Garage #2 or 4. Garages #1 and #3 will be connected on the second level.  Parkers wishing to access Garage #3 must turn right at the top of the ramp inside Garage #1.  Parking staff will be stationed in key areas throughout the garage to direct traffic.

Important: The entry gates will be raised during the morning rush to reduce delay. State employees will not be required to swipe state issued credentials to gain access, but will be required to present them to parking personnel as they pass through the lanes.

EVENING EXIT:
From 3:30PM – 5:30PM all four (4) lanes of Garage #1 will be EXIT ONLY (please see exit diagram attached). Entry will be prohibited during this time. Garages #2 or #4 will be available for state employees arriving between 3:30 – 5:30PM. Vehicles leaving Garage #3 will utilize the down-ramp from the second level in conjunction with Garage #1.
