Ohio River Bridges Project

Kentucky and Indiana are working together to meet the cross-river transportation needs of the Louisville and Southern Indiana region through construction of the Ohio River Bridges Project, one of the largest transportation improvements in the nation. Kentucky is responsible for the Downtown Crossing while Indiana is responsible for the East End Crossing. between Utica, IN, and Prospect, KY. The East End Bridge will link the Lee Hamilton Expressway in Indiana and the Gene Snyder Freeway in Kentucky, completing a loop around the east end of the Louisville metropolitan area.

  • Ohio River Bridges logoContractors Information Exchange:  To help firms interested in becoming part of the Louisville-Southern Indiana Ohio River Bridges Project, a web-based resource for contractors of all types has been created to share and exchange basic company information.  Prime contractors and subcontractors interested in participating in the construction can post information or gain contact information for other firms.  Go to Ohio River Bridges Project and view the right column for more info.

  • Indiana has narrowed the list of potential partners for building the Ohio River Bridges Project’s East End Crossing to four teams, each with extensive experience in the design, construction, maintenance and financing of large public infrastructure projects. Representatives of the Indiana Finance Authority (IFA) and Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) will meet with each team to solicit ideas and discuss the next steps in the procurement process. It is anticipated that a final request for proposals on financing, developing, constructing, operating and maintaining the East End Crossing will be issued to the short list of teams in late July. Final responses to the request for proposals are scheduled to be due to the IFA in late October. The East End Crossing procurement remains on schedule to reach commercial close by the end of 2012.
